Hi Rafa!

I like your attitude to life. You want to know the differences between Barcelona and London? Well, one of the things I like a lot about Barcelona is that it has the advantages of a big city (cosmopolitan, culturally interesting, lots of places and things to see) but it is small enough to feel like a village (almost!)

What do I miss about London? Well, I miss my social life there - I had a lot of friends that I have lost touch with now. I also miss the sports I used to do. I used to play a lot of softball, and that seems impossible to do here. I miss London's parks too - there are so many green spaces in London where you can go to relax, have a picnic, etc. And right in the middle of the city. It's more difficult in Barcelona.

Hi Mr. Graham!!

I'm agree in all you have said about the "fate". I think that everyone can take the control of their life but a lot of people stay at home waiting for a miracle. People must move to obtain they want to do.
About Ildelfonso Moyano, I know that he is working in a hotel but in this moment I have no idea about where is he working now.
What can you tell me about the differences between London and Barcelona?, I think that it must be a lot of differences but I would like to know what do you miss from London.

Hi Mr Luque!

I'm glad things are working out for you here - it's important, I think to make the most of whatever experience you find yourself in. It's too negative and not a good idea to complain about your "fate" as I see many people do because they can't do what they originally planned to do, etc. I think the key to success and happiness is if you can adapt to the situation that life presents and do the best you can. It sounds like this is what you are doing - I'm happy for you!

I don't remember Ildefonso, but his name certainly rings a bell. What's he doing nowadays?
Hi Graham!!

I just read your message and I have to tell you that I only believe in fate in certain situations. I think that the fact of studying here, in St. Ignasi, is because I decided that university, but not for fate. Well, I have taken that decision for one of my friends who told me that he had been studying here for three years doing the Tourism's course. His name is Ildelfonso Moyano, his parents and my parents are very good friends. Maybe you know who is he. Well, I didn't know what to do with my life, and finally in a big meeting of differents courses and universities made in Plaza Espanya I see the stand of ESADE-St. Ignasi, and one girl told me everything about this course. Then I came here for doing the tests of level, and here I am, one year more. I am very proud for staying here and I have met a lot of new friends. It's a beautiful experience for me.

Hi Rafa! I finally get to write to you - you're so keen to use this, I'm sorry I didn't have time to post here earlier - I was so busy!

There are many ways I could answer your question. Here's one of them : I'm teaching here because of fate. I don't believe in 'fate' as a concept which means that everyone is destined to do something in the future and you can't avoid it. I just mean it's pure accident, not design.

I came to Barcelona thinking I was going to go straight to Seville to teach. But I loved it so much here, I stayed. I left London thinking I'd return after a year and become a history teacher in the UK, but I fell in love with Barcelona (first), and then a woman living in Barcelona (next) which has meant I have been here for over nine years.

What about you? Why are you studying here? and where do you think fate will take you to afterwards?

Why are you teaching in ESADE-St. Ignasi?
My name is Rafa. I am 20 years old and I am from Badalona a city near Barcelona. I like listening to music, going to the cinema, dancing and I love to be with my friends! I am studying Tourism in ESADE-St. Ignasi (Barcelona). My favourite place is ANTEQUERA, it is in the south of Spain, near Málaga. I recommend this beautiful place.
